What type of pulse oximeter is used for this initiative?
We are able to donate the AH-MX model of Lifebox pulse oximeter, which is a rugged, hand-held device that can be powered directly or through its rechargeable battery. You can find more information here.
What happens if there’s an issue with the pulse oximeter?
Lifebox representative, Remy Turc, at remy@lifebox.org must be notified of any issues with the units. Remy will confirm whether the device is still under warranty, record the issue, notify the manufacturer, and attempt to troubleshoot the device. If troubleshooting is not successful, and Remy confirms the device is under warranty, the oximeter should be returned to the manufacturer.
The oximeter is under warranty for two years from the shipping date to our Americares warehouse (not the date that the device is shipped to you). The probes and battery are covered for a year based on the shipping date to our Americares warehouse. Please note that loss or theft is not covered, and changing the language setting voids the warranty.
How much does it cost?
Pulse oximeters are provided at no cost to those qualified to participate in the Safe Surgery Initiative.
